Does ChatGPT know your name?

How do you check if ChatGPT recommends your business?

Ask ChatGPT, with Search on, 3 questions your customers ask, on 3 different days, and count how often you are named. To show up more, let AI read your website, say what you do the same way everywhere, and get customers and other sites to say it too.

Before you start (1 minute)

Be honest with yourself: nobody can pay or apply to be named by ChatGPT. These steps make you easier to find, and results take weeks, not days.

  1. Test it, the right way

    Open chatgpt.com. Start a Temporary chat, so ChatGPT's memory of you doesn't change the answer. Turn on Search. Ask one question per chat. Swap the brackets.

    What are the best [your type of business] in [your city]?
    I need [your service] in [your city]. Who should I call?
    Is [your company name] in [your city] any good?

    Write down: were you named? Which websites show up as sources? Repeat on 3 days, because the answer changes every time. Your score: named __ out of 9. If your customers ask in Arabic, test in Arabic too.

  2. Open the door

    If AI can't read your website, nothing else matters. Open yourcompany.com/robots.txt, copy what you see, and paste it into ChatGPT with this:

    Here is my website's robots.txt file. Does it block OAI-SearchBot, Googlebot or Bingbot from reading my site? Answer yes or no for each one. If yes, tell me exactly which lines to change, in plain words I can send to the person who manages my website.

[paste the file here]

    Empty or not found? Good. If your site uses Cloudflare, ask your web person to check AI bots aren't blocked there too.

  3. Pick the one thing you want to be known for

    AI repeats what is clear. "We do everything" is not clear. Go to claude.ai, start a new chat, and paste this:

    Help me pick the one thing my business should be known for, and say it in one clear sentence.

My business: [name, city]
What we do: [all your services]
Our best customers: [who they are]
What we are best at, with proof: [results, numbers, reviews]

Give me:
1. THE ONE THING: the single service or customer we should be known for, and why, in 2 sentences.
2. ONE SENTENCE: "[name] is a [type of business] in [city] that helps [customers] to [result]."
3. Short versions of that sentence for my LinkedIn headline, my Instagram bio and my email signature.

Rules: plain words, no hype like "leading" or "best". Use only what I told you. If something is missing, write ADD THIS.

    Put that sentence everywhere: your homepage, LinkedIn, Instagram, email signature. Same words every time.

  4. Claim your free listings

    ChatGPT Search gets some of its results from other search engines, like Microsoft's Bing. Claim your free profile on Google Business Profile (business.google.com) and Bing Places (bingplaces.com), if they work in your country. Same name, address and phone everywhere.

  5. Get customers to say it

    Ask 5 happy customers for a Google review that says what you did and the result. This writes the message:

    Write a short, friendly WhatsApp message asking a happy customer to leave a Google review for my business. Ask them to say what we did for them and the result they got. Under 60 words, plain words, no pressure.

My business: [name, what you do]
The customer: [first name, what we did for them]

Do not send it.

  6. Get named on other sites

    Go back to the sources from step 1: directories, lists, local news. Get on them. For articles, email the writer:

    Write a short, polite email to the editor of this article or list: [link]

Ask if they would consider adding my business. Say in one line who we are, in one line why we fit their list, and give one real proof. Under 100 words. No flattery, no pressure.

My proof: [one real result]

Do not send it.

    In a month, run step 1 again and compare. Keep going. 🎉

اسأل ChatGPT، والـSearch شغّال، ٣ أسئلة بيسألها زباينك، بـ٣ أيام مختلفة، وعِدّ كم مرّة بيذكرك. ولتطلع أكتر، خلّي الـAI يقرا موقعك، قول شو بتعمل بنفس الطريقة بكل مكان، وخلّي زباينك والمواقع التانية يقولوها كمان.

باختصار:

قبل ما تبلّش (دقيقة)

خلّينا صريحين: ما حدا فيه يدفع أو يقدّم طلب ليذكرو ChatGPT. هالخطوات بتخلّيك أسهل تتلاقى، والنتيجة بتاخد أسابيع مش أيام. والرسايل تحت بالإنكليزي، انسخها متل ما هيّي. وإذا بدّك الجواب بالعربي، زيد بآخر الرسالة: "Answer in Arabic".

  1. جرّب، بالطريقة الصح

    افتح chatgpt.com. افتح Temporary chat، لحتى ما تأثّر ذاكرة ChatGPT عنّك عالجواب. شغّل الـSearch. اسأل سؤال واحد بكل chat. وبدّل الأقواس.

    اكتب: ذكرك؟ وشو المواقع اللي طالعة كـsources؟ عيد بـ٣ أيام، لأنو الجواب بيتغيّر كل مرّة. علامتك: ذكرك __ من ٩. وإذا زباينك بيسألوا بالعربي، جرّب بالعربي كمان.

  2. افتح الباب

    إذا الـAI ما فيه يقرا موقعك، ما في شي تاني بيفرق. افتح yourcompany.com/robots.txt، انسخ اللي بيطلع، وحطّو بـChatGPT مع هيدا:

  3. اختار الشغلة الوحدة اللي بدّك تنعرف فيها

    الـAI بيعيد اللي واضح. "منعمل كل شي" مش واضح. روح عـclaude.ai، ابدأ chat جديد، وحطّ هيدا:

  4. سجّل ببلاش بالـlistings

    الـSearch تبع ChatGPT بيجيب جزء من نتايجو من search engines تانية، متل Bing تبع Microsoft. سجّل شركتك ببلاش عـGoogle Business Profile (business.google.com) وعـBing Places (bingplaces.com)، إذا شغّالين ببلدك. نفس الاسم والعنوان ورقم التلفون بكل مكان.

  5. خلّي زباينك يقولوها

    اطلب من ٥ زباين مبسوطين يكتبولك review عـGoogle بيقولوا فيه شو عملتلن وشو كانت النتيجة. هيدا بيكتبلك الرسالة:

  6. خلّي المواقع التانية تذكرك
