# The Photo-to-Ad

Hand Claude one product photo. It makes a studio shot, waits for your yes, then turns that shot into a short video ad.

## What you get

**You have a product photo on your phone. You need an ad.**

The Photo-to-Ad is a recipe for Claude that goes from one to the other.

It works in 3 steps:

- It turns your photo into a studio shot. Soft light, a clean scene.
- It stops and asks you: does this look right?
- Only after your yes, it turns that shot into a short video ad.

If the photo is wrong, nothing moves forward. You don't pay to animate a bad shot.

**Not free. You pay MuAPI for each image and video. About 15 minutes to set up.**

## Who this is for

You sell a product. You want ads, but not a photo shoot or an editor.

## What you need

- Claude Code
- Python 3.10 or newer (Python is the language the MuAPI tool runs on)
- A MuAPI account with money on it. With $0 it won't even take your photo.
- One product photo

## Set it up

### Step 1: Get MuAPI ready

Make an account at https://muapi.ai and add money at https://muapi.ai/topup.

Then copy your API key from https://muapi.ai/dashboard. An API key is a password that lets the tool use your account.

### Step 2: Check your Python

Open the Terminal and type:

```
python3 --version
```

It must say 3.10 or higher. If it says 3.9, get a newer one at https://www.python.org/downloads first.

### Step 3: Install the MuAPI tool

Make a small private folder for it, then install it there:

```
python3 -m venv ~/muapi-env
source ~/muapi-env/bin/activate
pip install muapi-cli
```

**Skip `npm install -g muapi-cli`**, even though the project page says it's the recommended way. It failed for us: the download it needs wasn't there.

### Step 4: Add your key

```
muapi auth configure
```

Paste your API key when it asks.

### Step 5: Add the recipe to Claude Code

```
npx skills add SamurAIGPT/Generative-Media-Skills --skill muapi-product-video-ad-maker -a claude-code
```

### Step 6: Restart Claude Code from this same Terminal window

Close Claude Code. Then, in the window where you ran Step 3, type `claude`.

This matters: Claude can only use the MuAPI tool from a window where it's switched on. Next time, run `source ~/muapi-env/bin/activate` first, then `claude`.

## Use it

Put your photo in your folder. Then say:

```
Upload ./product.jpg with muapi, then use the product video ad maker skill on it.
```

The upload step matters. The recipe needs a web link to your photo, not a file on your computer. Uploading gives it that link.

You'll see the studio shot first. Say yes, or ask for changes. Only then does it make the video.

**Tip:** want a different scene? Say it, like "on a marble counter with morning light."

## If something goes wrong

**"INSUFFICIENT_CREDITS"** Your MuAPI balance is $0. Add money at https://muapi.ai/topup.

**The tool crashes with "TypeError" right away.** Your Python is too old. Use 3.10 or newer (Step 2).

**"muapi: command not found"** The private folder isn't switched on. Run `source ~/muapi-env/bin/activate`, then start Claude Code again.
