# Hiring Signal Play

Turn a company's own VP Sales or SDR Manager job posting into a timed, multi-touch outreach play that hits while their hiring budget is still fresh.

## What it does

A company posting a VP Sales, CRO, RevOps lead, or SDR Manager job is telling you exactly what it's about to invest in. Hiring Signal Play turns that job posting into an actual outreach play: who to contact, in what order, and when, timed to two real windows, the two weeks right after the posting goes up (when the CEO or founder just approved the budget) and the first 90 days after the role is filled (when the new hire is evaluating every tool in the stack). It builds a role-to-relevance table across four hiring-signal categories, a dated week-by-week touch calendar, a CEO or founder outreach template, a new-hire outreach template, and a breakup message for week 12.

## Who it is for

Anyone running B2B outbound who wants to stop cold-calling into accounts at random and start prioritizing the ones actively signaling they're about to spend on sales tools, right as the person with the budget or the new hire with the mandate is most open to hearing from you.

## What it is and what it runs in

- **It's a skill.** Think of it as a playbook Claude follows. There's no app to download.
- **It runs in Claude Code.** It also works in Codex, Cursor and other tools that support skills.
- **It's free.** No API keys, no signups, no paid accounts.

## Before you start

- **Claude Code installed** (or another agentic tool that supports skills).
- **git installed.** On a Mac, if it's missing, your computer offers a one-click install the first time Step 1 runs.

## Install

Open Claude Code (or your agentic tool) and run these two steps.

### Step 1: Download the skills library

```
git clone https://github.com/LeadMagic/gtm-skills.git
```

### Step 2: Copy Hiring Signal Play into Claude Code

```
mkdir -p .claude/skills
cp -r gtm-skills/skills/sales-plays/hiring-signal-play .claude/skills/hiring-signal-play
```

## Run it

Give Claude the company and the roles posted, for example:

```
Run a hiring signal play for Vantorra Systems, a 42-person B2B
SaaS company selling project management software to construction
firms. They posted a VP of Sales and an SDR Manager on LinkedIn
this week.
```

You get back something like:

```
Signal Diagnosis: two GTM roles posted the same week is a
stronger signal than either alone, this reads as outgrowing
founder-led sales.
Role-to-Relevance Mapping:
Hiring Manager: VP of Sales (posted)
Scaler: SDR Manager (posted)
Builder: RevOps (not yet posted, flagged to watch)
CEO/Founder Outreach (Week 1-2): insight-first, references both
postings directly, no pitch.
New Hire Outreach (Week 1-30): bridges their likely prior stack
to a problem they'll hit here.
Breakup (Week 12): "Assuming you've got this covered."
```

## Troubleshooting

**Claude doesn't seem to use the skill.** Make sure you opened Claude Code in the same folder you ran the install steps in. You can also call it directly by typing `/hiring-signal-play`.

**The output feels generic instead of specific to the company.** Give it real specifics: company size, the actual roles posted, and how you know. The skill fills in real detail when you give it real detail.

**Claude asks for permission before writing the output file.** Approve the Write prompt when it appears, or ask it to print the deliverable in the chat first if you just want to see it work before saving anything.
